Big Windows, Big Impact: Transforming Homes with Massive Drapery
Some projects are intimidating. Things you’ve never done before. Bigger and more complicated, but that’s exactly why they’re exciting. This Spanish style vacation home had 48 feet of windows and sliders, a design feature that creates a breathtaking view but also presents challenges. The homeowners wanted privacy when they were away, but loved the openness when at home.
We went into it knowing it would be different to what we’ve done. A complicated job with plenty of ways it could go wrong. I’m proud to say my team nailed it. We installed custom drapery that fits the scale of the home perfectly. Fully closed, it provides privacy, warmth, and intimacy in a massive space. Fully open, it lets in the stunning Central Coast light that makes a home feel alive. It’s dramatic, elegant, and functional all at once.
Many contractors shy away from projects like this because of the scale, but taking them on is rewarding. Massive windows offer an opportunity to combine style, function, and a touch of daily joy. Every fold, every panel, is a chance to enhance the home’s character while solving a real need.
For homeowners on the Central Coast, custom drapery offers both beauty and practicality, even for large scale projects. Spanish style homes, modern estates, and vacation retreats all benefit from carefully designed window treatments that complement architecture while providing privacy and control over light.
Seeing this project completed reminded me why I love this work: even the most daunting jobs can become a source of pride, beauty, and joy for both client and installer. Massive or small, each window deserves attention and creativity.
